How to add ads.txt file to root directory of your blog - Blogger
In this post we will be adding the ads.txt file to root directory of your blog as given in the troubleshooting guide by Google Adsense.
So, lets say you started your own blog and opted for the monetization of your blog using ads provided by Google. When you enable the ads on your blog and apply on the Google Adsense, Google will take a good amount of time .i.e. around 2 month to verify it (~official). For me, the approval took around 5 months.
- Now once the approval mail arrives, Google will check your blog and ask you to fix any issue on the blog with respect to ads, like this.
- After you click on the Fix Now, it will be give you a download link and a troubleshooting guide link to add the ads.txt file, like this.
Once downloaded, open the file and copy the content.
The content is unique per blog as it contains the publisher Id.
- When you refer to the Guide given, the last point will ask you to add the ads.txt file to the root directory of your blog, which is not possible with the blogs, but there is a way given by blogger.com to do so.
- Go to your blogger.com and go to settings page.
- Scroll down to the Monetization Section.
- There is Enable Ads toggle, which will show a customs ads.txt section where you can add the content you copied from the downloaded ads.txt file, like this
- To verify if the ads.txt is working, go to your blog URL, and add ads.txt to the URL, which will show the content you pasted above.
- URL: https://<blog_domain>/ads.txt
Hope this helps you in adding the ads.txt file to your blog's root directory.
